For Sale Price : 4300.00 €

Rare Reich Chancellery (Reichskanzlei) Gravy boat. The gravy boat is intact and has an absolutely beautiful caramel patina. It is roll printed with the party eagle clutching an oak wreath with a swastika. The “R” and “K” flank the sides of the crown. The bottom is stamped Wellner 40 C.L. 30. Measures 10 ½ “in length and 7” at the highest point of the handle. The silverware of the Reich Chancellery is much rarer than the Adolf Hitler pieces you encounter.
The Reich Chancellery was extremely significant. It was Hitler’s official residence, office and bunker; from here he planned the war and here it ended with his death.
Anything from the Chancellery is extremely rare because the complex was badly damaged during the Battle of Berlin in April 1945. It was nearly destroyed. Only the walls remained, riddled with innumerable splinters, thrown open by large bullet holes. The ceilings have only partially survived. The last defense took place inside the Chancellery. After the end of the Second World War, the remains were demolished by order of the Soviet occupation forces.
