Purchased (and renamed) by the Nazis in 1936, the Berchtesgadener Hof hotel hosted VIPs and other prominent figures visiting the area to meet Hitler at the Berghof. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor stayed there during their 1937 trip to Germany, and other illustrious guests included Josef Goebbels, Heinrich Himmler, and Erwin Rommel. Eva Braun also lived here before moving permanently to the Berghof. At the end of the war, US and Allied troops ransacked the building, and the hotel’s guestbook acquired near-mythical status after appearing in the HBO series “Band of Brothers.”He was picked up from the hotel reception by local resident in may 1945. The hotel was eventually demolished in 2006. Measures 35 x 26 cm.
